will be held Saturday 31 December 2016 on the Esperance Foreshore.  Hosted and coordinated by the Rotary Club of Esperance Bay (RCEB), this is smoke and alcohol free event with appeal to all ages.  The event will commence at 3pm and conclude with the spectacular 20 minute fireworks display at 9pm.

The Esperance Foreshore Festival and Fireworks 2016 will provide entertainment for the whole community through market stalls, food vendors, musical and other performances, culminating in a spectacular fireworks display. In addition it is hoped many community members will be actively involved through planning the event, assisting with its conduct, volunteering as marshals, presenting as performers, entering and participating in competitions, patronising the markets and food outlets and of course picnicking and socialising along the beautiful Esperance foreshore.

2016 is the third year the Rotary Club of Esperance Bay has facilitated a fireworks show for the Esperance community on New Year’s Eve with generous support from local business and individuals.  Commencing in 2014 the event was limited to fireworks only from 9 – 9.15 pm with limited food availability.  The feedback from the community in early 2015 indicated that they wanted more of a community event prior to the fireworks with food and drinks and things ‘to do’.

The event became the Esperance Foreshore Festival and Fireworks (EFFF) in 2015.  The aim of the RCEB was to facilitate a festive event for the local community that would also attract visitors from out of town and showcase our community.  The event was also to celebrate the end of 2015, which was a very trying year for our Esperance community, and thank all the volunteers who helped during the bushfire crisis.

Community feedback in 2016 indicates the need for more food and drink vendors, more entertainment and more things to do prior to the fireworks.  This year the festival commences at 3pm.  Expressions of interest have been sought from a large number of food and drink vendors and market stallholders, and we are confident of a much larger showcase.  The EFFF Committee are planning an action packed program with items of interest for all ages and plenty of opportunity for crowd engagement and participation.  HopeFM will provide a live broadcast on site from 3pm.

Planned activities include Volleyball, Cadets Cannon Ball Challenge, Leaky Bucket Relay, RCEB Children’s games (Splat the Rat, Splash Gladys), Discovery Trail, Colouring in Competition, Drumming Circle, Jumping Castles, Photo Booth, with a Busking Competition starting at 5pm.  A DJ will provide commentary and music throughout the event with a simulcast soundtrack broadcast by HopeFM to accompany the spectacular fireworks display finally.

The Busking Competition is poised to become a popular and hopefully regular event.  Based on the National Busking competition hosted annually by the Rotary Club of Cooma, the Esperance event invites Musicians, Magicians, Comedians and anyone who has a talent to showcase, to compete for the generous cash prizes on offer.

Busking Competition entries close on Wednesday 28 December so start practicing!
